T he project by Architects Zoe Chan and Merlin Eayrs is named New Cross Lofts. It provides a pair of residences and a pair of workspaces on a steeply sloping side street opposite the area’s rail station. The not standard use of Pale grey bricks are arranged to create a herringbone pattern across the façade, which would typical be use for paved floor areas. The external look of the building isn’t my cup of tea, but it does fit the language of the surrounding area. The reason I find this building most attractive is the use of mottled plasterwork and contrasting colours. The Architects have designed clever furniture and have used simple fixtures that really complements and maximize the spaces.
